Mind the Child Project
The project sought to reduce poor outcomes of Black Asian Minority Ethnic (BAME) children from low-income families in Bedfordshire through early intervention support in order to improve their lives and the degree of integration into UK society. The project focus was on providing children and their parents with resources, information and tools to fully integrate into the UK education system and financial literacy. UK Education system workshops and Financial awareness workshops were delivered as part of the project. Funded by the National Lottery Fund.
As part of the “Mind the Child Project” this project sought to use ESOL training to assist migrant parents in integrating into local society and increase their understanding to mitigate any feelings of exclusion as a result of not speaking English fluently. Rulani Foundation sought and successfully developed a strategic partnership with The Noah Enterprise (Luton) in order to deliver the ESOL training. 13 parents undertook the ESOL, 8 week course. The aim of the project is to help African migrants; parents to be better educated on managing finances through workshops in which they can obtain valuable information to help better steward their finances and resources to better their family lives and outcomes. The project as sought to equip African migrant parents with information and resources they need to prepare and manage for the current rising cost of living and information to lower or eliminate high debt consumption.The project also looked at the reduction of detrimental mental health effects of financial hardship .Financial Education workshops, Financial Wellbeing Lunch, Managing Cost of Living workshops and Family Financial education workshops were delivered as part of this project. Funded by the National Lottery Fund.
FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP Project
The aim of this project was to encourage parents and their children to engage with each other in a fun way. The ultimate aim being in growing and developing better relationships between parents and their children; family units will achieve better personal, financial and societal outcomes when they have positive relationships. Day outs included: Rulani Family Fun Day, Soft Play Session- Snakes & Ladders and Farm Visit - Open Mead Farm. Funded by Arnold Clark Community Fund.
